How is AI visibility different from SEO?
SEO measures where you rank in Google's blue links. AI visibility measures whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and Google's AI Overview mention you, cite you, or recommend you when someone asks them a question in your category. They're different surfaces with different mechanics, different ranking systems, and increasingly different audiences. Most search-driven buying decisions in 2026 begin with an AI engine — not Google — and SEO tools were never built to track that.
How does DUNkē detect AI mentions?
For each tracked brand and category, DUNkē maintains a corpus of high-intent prompts (5,000+ at the Intelligence tier). Every 4 hours, those prompts are run against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and Google AI Overviews. The response text is parsed, your brand entity is detected (name + URL + variants), context type is classified (mention / citation / recommendation / comparison / roundup), and the event is written to your dashboard. The Operator tier runs hourly.
What counts as an AI citation?
A citation is any instance where an AI engine surfaces your brand by name (or with a direct URL link) in response to a prompt we're tracking. Citations are scored by context (positive recommendation > comparison > listing > flat mention) and position (first-named > anywhere in answer). The DUNkē Score weights these together with engine coverage, prompt intent, and category SoV.
How often are prompts tracked?
Monitor: weekly. Intelligence: every 4 hours. Operator: hourly with real-time webhook support. All tiers maintain a permanent index of every detection — historical SoV and visibility trends never get rolled up or discarded.
Can I track competitors?
Yes. Intelligence tracks up to 5 competitor brands side-by-side — SoV, citation frequency, engine coverage, and trend momentum. The Operator tier supports unlimited competitors and category-level dominance tracking. Competitor data appears on the visibility map (S05) and feeds the strategic commentary engine.
Does this monitor ChatGPT and AI Overviews separately?
Yes — all 6 surfaces are tracked independently with their own metrics. ChatGPT and Perplexity behave very differently from Google's AI Overview (which behaves differently from Gemini, which behaves differently from Claude). Conflating them is one of the biggest mistakes the first wave of “AI tracking” tools makes. DUNkē gives you per-engine SoV, per-engine citation frequency, and per-engine commentary.
How do visibility scores work?
The DUNkē Score (0–100) is a weighted composite across 8 dimensions: citation frequency, engine coverage, AI Overview presence, recommendation positioning, sentiment, share-of-voice vs category, prompt cluster coverage, and entity strength. The breakdown is visible in S04 (Optimization Layer). It moves with your actual visibility — not with vanity metrics — and is benchmarked against your category, not the internet.
